Interviewing newbies for our helpdesk, one kid today fresh out of college bought a 2004 545i and went thru his first experience of high mileage modern bmw hell. I can relate so well. I want to hire him just based off that. When we asked ‘what do you do for fun’ he said find excuses to work on my car

i dunno man, sounds like a scam. With a BMW you never have to find an excuse, there is always a list of reason to work on it.
